Name: Steve Rogers Door: door pass - submissive Canon: Marvel Cinematic Universe Canon Point: End of Endgame Age: about 39 (including cryogenically frozen time, physically technically 105) Appearance: image History: link CR AU (Optional): n/a Personality: Positive Trait: Leader Steve is a good man, who does his best to make fair, right choices. Dr. Erskine saw this in him, that he wanted to do what was good rather than go overseas merely to kill Nazis. That in his physical weakness was the strength of knowing and valuing physical strength, that it would not be misused or taken advantage of. He even told the doctor that he didn't want to have to kill anyone, but that he doesn't like bullies, no matter where they're from. Because the serum amplifies what is already within a person, it would and does so with Steve's good traits. He becomes better, great. His instinctive compassion also amplifies. He aligns toward what is fair, toward valuing freedom and choice above all else, and he despises control of people through fear. Due to his inherent strength of being a good person combined with the serum, his traits allow for Steve to be a natural leader. While in basic training, Steve threw himself over a (dummy) grenade while the other potentials to get the serum ran away. He tells Bucky that he wants to enlist because there are so many men putting their lives on the line, and that he shouldn't be doing any less than them. His bravery and selflessness put him on the track to be able to lead and be respected while doing so. He shows and says time and again that he's willing to die for the mission, for the cause. Steve's leadership ties in with his ability to strategize on the go. He starts to give orders quickly once he has the opportunity, like when he does so with the men he frees in Europe during the war. Giving orders comes naturally to him -- not because of his ego, but because he wants to save as many lives as he can, and because his strategy and tactical eye are usually optimal. He gives orders to street cops in the battle with Loki, and gradually continues to do so more while being part of the Avengers. When S.H.I.E.L.D. is destined to be dissolved, Fury tells him that it looks like he's the guy giving orders now. The rest of the Avengers look to Steve as their leader in the heat of battle especially, because they know how effective his strategies are. The troops in wartime followed him with ease. The Howling Commandos were willing to go back into battle with him, and Bucky said that he'd be following the little guy from Brooklyn who was too dumb to not run away from a fight. Steve doesn't take the time and commitment of his team for granted. When Sam wants to join him and Natasha, he tells him that he can't let him do it, that he knows Sam left the army for a reason. He knows the toll it takes, and he needs to express that. When Natasha is upset about how they were all lied to about the true nature of S.H.I.E.L.D., that she thought she'd finally been able to go clean rather than working purely as a spy for the KBG -- he talks to her, tells her that after what they've been through together, he knows that he can trust her. When he asks for help while harboring Bucky, he tells Clint, Wanda, and Scott that he wouldn't have called unless he had to, that he had no other choice, that they're outside of the law. He leads with truth and compassion, always. His compassion and protective qualities come out when he sees younger people being misunderstood and taken advantage of, too. He empathized with Pietro and Wanda when he saw that them choosing to be experimented on and becoming enhanced with abilities was them doing what they thought was best for their country, which was at war. He became irate with Tony when Wanda was locked up at the Avenger complex, calling it internment, mentioning that she was 'just a kid.' Steve truly is a master at giving motivational speeches off the cuff. He gives a speech about what really is going on with S.H.I.E.L.D. over their intercom about how they want total control, that he knows the price of freedom is high and that if he's the only one who is willing to pay it, then so be it ; but, he mentions he doesn't think he's the only one, and he sure isn't. A good number of agents switch to helping Steve in his mission. He's incredibly perceptive (easily detected a hidden pathway to an elevator at an army base ; summed up approx how many people there would be left that still needed to get on the helicarriers in Sokovia.) He's tactical in the moment, knowing when and where each team member should go, what all needs to be done with the best hopes of winning. He knows that he isn't perfect, that he makes mistakes just like every other man. He strives to follow orders, but can decipher and adjust once it's clear that there's more to the picture. He does so when he sees that Fury has been keeping secrets from them and calls him out for making weapons of mass destruction. After the events of Civil War, he writes a letter to Tony and apologizes for not telling him about how he knew how his parents had died, that he wishes they could've agreed on the Accords and he ends the letter by promising that he and the other Avengers will always be there, no matter what. He's a humble man and can take accountability. Negative Trait: Determined Steve goes to multiple enlistment centers, lying about where he's from, due to his determination to fight in the war. It'd been risky, and he thought he'd been caught by the Military Police before he met Dr. Erskine. When he's asked if he wants to serve his country in the most important battle field of the war by Senator Brandt, he says that's all he wants. From this, he ends up serving as an actor in short films and on stage to raise war bonds, travelling to cities. It's a huge hit across the states but when he goes overseas to perform for the troops, he's mocked by them. It's a gut punch when he feels like he isn't doing what he set out to do. Determined to keep his power of choice, his freedom, even if it meant going against the group, he would not sign the Sokovia Accords. He believes that even if their choices aren't perfect, their safest hands are still their own. He firmly believes that the Avengers have made the world a safer place, which is what they were created to do. He doesn't want to be tied down by people with agendas, to rely and allow them to choose when he and the Avengers should get to fight. His refusal to sign does end with a fracture in the Avengers, and Steve himself becoming a criminal. Steve fights anyone he has to, no matter the physical consequences, from Bucky to Thanos, to any enemy he comes across. Virtually alone against Thanos (the rest of the team down and out, and the others that had come back from the snap not having returned yet), Steve is hurt and fatigued, but gets up and straps his broken shield back on and clearly intends to continue fighting Thanos. This determination applied before Steve took the serum, too. He would fight bullies and people who were disrespectful to others, often going against physically stronger opponents (he was also sickly and notably asthmatic pre-serum) without a second thought. Which, resulted in him getting his ass kicked, but what's a few bruises and some pain when you're standing up for what's right? He told Peggy that if he'd ran, the bullies would never let him stop. He stood his ground, even with a physical toll. A catchphrase of his is literally 'I can do this all day,' referring to fighting, from pre-serum to any combat he's in. Steve constantly makes heroic choices for the safety of others, for his country. He does so when he has to ensure a jet with bombs headed for the states crashed safely in the water rather than continuing on. He gives up his chance at continuing to have a life, to go and pursue a relationship with Peggy, and thus is frozen for 70 years. He is just so determined to save as many lives as possible. When the time heist to get the infinity stones goes awry, he's willing to go back to 1970 New Jersey that could've been a one way trip. It's a sacrificing move, an altruistic one, but he wants to finish the goal and get the stones and pym particles for more time travel. Negative Trait: Idealistic Steve craved to enlist in the army because he felt that it was the right thing to do. Later he comes to greater understanding of how agencies have agendas, and that can be dangerous. He learns this about S.H.I.E.L.D. specifically after learning that they're making weapons of mass destruction and helicarriers to target threats in advance. He ran missions and worked with Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D., but inevitably finds out that Hydra had infiltrated into the organization covertly operating for the past 70 years. How many people had to die until that was learned, he wonders. He regrets being part of the organization and makes the stance that it needs to be dissolved ASAP. He aims to run as tight of a ship as he possibly can, all while strategizing well. If someone on his team has another task he's unaware of (Natasha when she was collecting S.H.I.E.L.D. info for Fury as a mission of her own), he accused her of jeopardizing the mission, and Fury of constantly lying to him and keeping secrets. As a military-minded man, missions need to be as close to perfect as possible, otherwise people may die. His standard is extremely high; and, naturally, it can be disappointing or devastating when it doesn't go well. He's hard on himself when he gets distracted in missions, or when he doesn't think of everything he should have, such as when the team was in Lagos fighting Rumlow. He told Wanda such, especially when she was wholly blaming herself. He felt he had more responsibility, as the team leader, and with the vast amounts of experience he has. When fighting Ultron in Sokovia, he tells Natasha that he's not leaving even one civilian behind, and he waits until the last moment to jump up on the carrier to safety. Desiring perfection is dangerous, reckless. When Vision is willing to sacrifice himself by having Wanda destroy his stone before Thanos can get to it, Steve tells him that they don't trade lives. For better or worse, he strives for the absolute best case scenario, unwilling to go in with the mindset of making sacrifices of anyone (other than himself.) Steve and Tony clash at times, and he bristles when he thinks that Tony is all about style and selfishness rather than making sacrifices. It's one of the times that his ego really shows, when he sees a version of a man he accuses of pretending to be a hero, fanfaring about being one. It's a lot of testosterone in one room, though he does even tell Tony to put his suit on, to go a few rounds with him. Peacocking that's really not useful for the team. Negative Trait: Devoted There's no relationship that defines who Steve is more, what choices he makes, than his friendship with Bucky. He says that when he had nothing, he had Bucky. His determination to remind Bucky of who he is sets the trajectory of his life, and the Avengers as a whole. He's devastated when he sees Bucky plummet and seemingly die in Europe during the war, but he's shocked when he sees his best friend is the Winter Soldier. Steve does fight him, at first, when the blows easily start but inevitably, he decides that he won't fight him, that he's "with him until the end of the line." Even while being punched, stabbed, and shot, Steve refuses to lash back, to lash out, convinced that he can get through to him. He doesn't necessarily see that he does, after he's down and out and falls into water, where he's unconscious as Bucky drags him out and onto shore. Steve is so damaged that he actually has to go to the hospital for recovery, and he was devoted afterward to seek out Bucky. He got Russian files on him from Natasha, and he intended to find him. Once Bucky makes another appearance, he's thought to be a terrorist, having attacked a building in Vienna where the Sokovia Accords were being signed. Steve knows that of anyone else, he's the most likely to be able to bring Bucky in alive, and that's what he wants for his friend. He tracks him down, and they (after violating the Accords) get arrested and inevitably he learns that Bucky was framed, and he does everything he can to clear his name. This occurs in Civil War, pitting Tony and Steve against one another, and the other Avengers being forced into taking sides. Steve believes he's doing what's right, but he becomes a global criminal and ties in other Avengers in with him, and the whole team is fractured. From this, they and the planet are more vulnerable to Thanos' attacks, which Tony spares no time in reminding him of. Nothing could have made Steve not side with his best friend, but he does see the reality of how the situation with Thanos could have turned out differently, may have gone more smoothly, if they'd all been a united Avengers force. Some people may not have died, and the snap may never have even occurred. Powers and Abilities: wiki here Steve was chosen by the US Army to be given a super-soldier serum to enhance his physical traits. The creator of this serum told him that the "Serum amplifies everything that is inside," that “Good becomes great. Bad becomes worse," and that "A strong man who has known power all his life may lose respect for that power. But a weak man knows the value of strength; and knows compassion.” • Super Enhanced Physiology ; his cells keep him in prime condition ; very high metabolism • Superhuman Stamina ; can function in peak capacity for several hours without showing any fatigue • Superhuman Agility / Reflexes / Speed ; can jump / fall great heights! across buildings, over cars/vehicles/trains/buses (including moving ones) ; can dodge close-range gunfire and generally has the edge for physical combat • Superhuman Strength ; can physically overpower most opponents and holds his own against equally matched or stronger ; can climb up / pull himself onto metal fixtures, chains/cords, bars, etc, with ease ; can bend metal with some effort ; in wartime promos, he lifted a motorcycle with three showgirls on it with no effort ; can throw a moving motorcycle through the air as a projectile ; can fight whilst in mid-air (did so while holding onto and fighting Tony's Iron Legion bots) ; pulled a helicopter down by its landing gear to cause it to crash ; moved a massive metal piece of the structure of a helicarrier off Bucky so he could wiggle free from beneath it ; can hold up falling debris from buildings • Superhuman Durability ; can be hit very hard, stabbed, shot, etc with only a small refractory period before getting back into the fight. Notably does have a limit to where he'll need to be hospitalized, as per when he was in a fight with Bucky (got stabbed, shot multiple times, fell from the air into the water and probably partially drowned before being dragged to shore) • Superhuman Healing ; cells and muscles have a regenerative, protective quality ; recovers quickly from wounds and injuries; immune to getting sick; drugs and alcohol don't affect him (but definitely nerfing this aspect for the game, even gonna let him get a bit drunk) • Trained soldier ; Master Tactician • Master Martial Artist • Shield Mastery • Master Marksman • Expert Spy • Multilingual ; can fluently speak English (native), French • Can wield Mjølnir and Stormbreaker (Thor's Asgardian weapons which can only be wielded by those who are 'worthy') Inventory: • his Compass with Peggy's picture inside • his Vibranium shield • a leather jacket Samples: tdm link |
